This is a genuine fossil tooth attributed to Chrysocetus sp., an early archaeocete whale from the Eocene epoch, approximately 40–48 million years old. Chrysocetus represents one of the transitional early whales that were fully aquatic but still retained primitive dentition compared to modern cetaceans.
The tooth displays clear enamel and dentine structure, with natural wear and breakage consistent with marine mammal fossils of this age. The specimen has not been restored or altered and remains in natural condition as recovered.
Period: Paleogene
Age: ~ 44 million years
Origin: North Africa
An excellent example for collectors of fossil mammals, evolutionary biology enthusiasts, or as a study specimen illustrating early whale dentition.
