This is a genuine fossil partial tooth attributed to Chrysocetus sp., an early archaeocete whale from the Eocene epoch, approximately 40–48 million years old. Chrysocetus represents one of the transitional early whales that were fully aquatic while still retaining primitive dentition compared to modern cetaceans.

The specimen consists of a fragmentary tooth with attached matrix, showing preserved dentine and remnants of enamel, with natural wear and breakage consistent with marine mammal fossils of this age. The fossil has not been restored or altered and remains in its natural condition as recovered.

Period: Paleogene

Age: ~44 million years

Origin: North Africa

A solid study specimen for collectors of fossil mammals, students of evolutionary biology, or anyone interested in early whale evolution.
