This is a genuine mounted deer skull with antlers, professionally presented on a traditional wooden shield plaque. The reverse bears a stamped maker’s mark reading “Karl H. Gatmann”, indicating a commercially produced European taxidermy mount, likely mid–late 20th century.

Uniquely, the rear of the plaque retains a mounted section of the lower jaw, secured within a recessed compartment. This was a common feature in some European trophy mounts, allowing dentition to be preserved for age or condition reference, and adds both character and authenticity to the piece.
